Two rivers join together at Watersmeet hence the name.
Lynton and Lynmouth
The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are where Exmoor meets the sea. The town of Lynton is perched 500 ft on the cliff top, above its sister.
The fishing village of Lynmouth lies below at the confluence of two rivers, the East and West Lyn.

From the pub's patio you can enjoy a pint ..
.. and the only sounds you will hear are those of rushing water ...
.. over rocks and waterfalls.
Along the riverbank path the fern-lined Ash Pool is easily accessed from Rockford. A lush, green, 20 ft deep swimming spot.
Long Pool - a famous spot at the bottom of a 150ft gorge, where salmon wait for the river to come into flood in order to continue their journey up and over the waterfall beyond

Mick Cawston Murals
The upper bar has a couple of murals by world famous artist Mick Cawston. The scenes, which he painted in return for beer, are typical representations from Exmoor!
Dunster Castle
Dramatically sited on top of a wooded hill, a castle has existed here since at least Norman times, with an impressive medieval gatehouse and ruined tower giving a reminder of its turbulent history. Panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and moorland complete the experience.
Lynton - Lynmouth Funicular Cliff Railway
No family trip to the picturesque towns of Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon would be complete without a ride on the famous funicular cliff lift.
The area situated in the centre of the "Exmoor National Park" and nicknamed "Englands Little
Switzerland" a "Day out in Devon" would not be complete without visiting one of the southwests top attractions.

It's the best and most exciting way to travel between these two historic towns and will be one of the highlights of the day - for Mums, Dads and all the family.
Enjoy stunning views of Exmoor and the North Devon Coastline as you glide up and down the
862 foot length of track; from Lynmouth nestling at the foot of the cliffs to Lynton perched 500 feet above.
England's Highest Cliffs
Exmoor has 55 kilometres of coastline, including the highest sea cliffs in England, which reach a height of 314 metres at Culbone Hill. However, the crest of this coastal ridge of hills is more than 1.6 km from the sea. If a cliff is defined as having a slope greater than 60 degrees, the highest sea cliff on mainland Britain is Great Hangman near Combe Martin at 318 metres high, with a cliff face of 250 metres. Its sister cliff is the 250 metres Little Hangman, which marks the edge of Exmoor
